Good morning! It's cold today so good day to stay home and work on projects. I'm working on my projects with this Japanese Rokutsu Obi.  What is Rokutsu obi?  you can see this article → http://mashtonart.blogspot.com/2015/03/japanese-obi-for-my-projects.html Handmade by MashtonMashton This Rokutsu obi has Pine tree(MATSU in Japanese), Peony (BOTANN in Japanese) and hexagons (Kikkou in Japanese) patterns. The patterns that kimono and Obi are very significant and have meaning. Matsu/Pine Tree is regarded as a plant God/Goddess stays with. It has a meaning of “Top” or “First Quality”.  In Japan, pine tree, bamboo and Japanese plum are known to represent "Good luck" and "Happiness" and all three trees together are called "Shouchikubai."   松 Shou(Pine)竹 Chiku (Bamboo)梅 Bai (Plum).  Peony is considered as King of Flowers that has a lot of meanings including wealth, good fortune, honor, daring and masculine bravery in Japan...

I started new projects to use Japanese Obi. I want to make something from Japanese Obi  because Japanese Obi is beautiful, delicate desing,woven and quite antique! I want to collaborate with Today's trend and antique taste. Also it's very hard to find Japanese obi except in Japan. I would like to introduce about Japanese Obi(sash) a little bit. When we wear kimono(traditional clothes) we use Obi(sash) as a belt. Obi have beautiful design and woven. Obi is important item to make your kimono stunning! Because when you wear kimono that obi comes to the center of your body so it's definately catch people's eyes. Obi have several type like a ROKUTSU/FUKURO obi, MARU obi,Nagoya obi etc...The MARU obi is the most formal obi, with both sides fully patterned along its length. Today was my needle work day.  I made a needle felt animal.  This is my first felt needle work.  I made a bichon frise! Why Bichon frise?  Because my parents had one in Japan.  I miss him a lot so I though my first needle felt animal is Jolly!
